Ramprasad passed out of IIM Calcutta in 1984. He has attended the Senior
Executive Program of the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA in
2001.
Currently, since 2016, he’s mentor to a Hero Cycles group
family member and an advisor to the group. He had also assisted the
group in 2014 with a proposed acquisition in Germany. He has helped
“professionalising” a recently taken over business of high end bicycles,
along with the Hero group family member. He’s also assisting the group
in a start up of Last Mile connectivity solutions.
In a career
spanning over 3 decades, Ramprasad has worked with various MNCs such as
Unilever and Sara Lee, as also large Indian groups such as Godrej, Tata,
Murugappa and Hero. His key capabilities have been in turning around or
transforming consumer goods and services businesses.
Between
2011 and 2014, he had taken up an entrepreneurial venture in the area of
decentralizedwaste water treatment. He’s very passionate about water
conservation and management.
He has been with Tata Teleservices
Ltd as CEO – Operations, heading the CDMA business in Tamilnadu. Tata
Teleservices was market leader in the wireless internet access services
business, under PHOTON brand.
Prior to this, he was with Zee
Network as CEO – South, where he was responsible for the launch of Zee
Tamil TV channel and consolidating the Zee Telugu and Zee Kannada
channels.
As President of T I Cycles of the Murugappa Group, he
was instrumental in effecting a turnaround of the business in T I Cycles
after taking charge in Apr 2005. Further, the blueprint for the
business to move into retailing and E bikes was also put together under
his leadership.
Earlier in the Murugappa Group, as Executive
Director of EID Parry India Ltd, and CEO of the Parryware business,
Ramprasad oversaw the rapid growth of their bathroom products business
to reach the No.1 position in the sanitaryware market. Various expansion
plans of over Rs.1 billion, entry into Taps business and transformation
of the brand into a contemporary ambience were
executed successfully. It culminated in the tie up with ROCA, world’s largest sanitaryware company.
Prior
to the successful stint of nearly 9 years with the Murugappa Group,
Ramprasad was with Hindustan Unilever Ltd in sales and operations
functions. He has also been associated with Sara Lee in India.
Ramprasad
was the President of INCOSAMA (Indian Council of Sanitaryware
Manufacturers) in 2002- 03 – the industry body of the sanitaryware
manufacturers. He was President of the AICMA (All India Cycle
Manufacturers Association) in 2006-07, the industry body of the cycle
industry of India.
Ramprasad has been a speaker at Brand Seminar
2005, B’lore and MMA Seminar in 2005. In 2008, he was a speaker at the
Southern Regional Conference of ISTD on “What the CEO has to offer H R”.
He has also been delivering guest lectures at IIM Kolkatta, IIT Madras –
MBA program and IFMR, MBA program.
